We are at the end of our tour, after thirty-one nights we are heading back home tomorrow. But before we do there is time to fit in one final walk in the Yorkshire Dales. If I was ever on the walking equivalent of “Desert Island Discs”, which I suppose would be “Desert Island Walks,” I would struggle to choose my favourite eight walks, but I know which one would top the list; a walk up Ingleborough.

Ingleborough Revisited
After our week in Richmond we have moved a little further south, but remain in the Yorkshire Dales. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Scar Close CL and will definitely be returning in the future. Our current location is a familiar pitch to us at Brigholme Farm CL in Giggleswick.
Past readers will know that we are regular visitors to this site that is within walking distance of our friends in Settle. We have already been here for a couple of days this trip and until now I have done familiar walks in the local area. Today we are heading off for my favourite walk in the Country; it is one that I have done a few times already this year. Regular blog readers will have already guessed that we are heading up Ingleborough.

There Is No Better Place To Be!
Earlier in the year when we were planning this trip Lynnie asked if I fancied eating anywhere special on my birthday. A stupid question really, there was only ever going to be one answer, The Little House Restaurant in Settle. It ticks all the boxes for me, the food is outstanding, the service could not be more attentive and it also means that we can spend an evening with our dear friends Maurice, Jane and Carlos.

A Special Place with Special People
There is one walk in the Dales that I have tried to do every year for as many years as I can remember and that is the trip up Ingleborough. There was one year when I was working in the north that I made a detour on the journey between Middlesbrough and Liverpool just to walk up it. (more…)
