After nearly a month at home we are back on the road. Following a trip away I often struggle to adapt to home life. It’s not that I don’t like being at home, it‘s great to catch up with friends, but I do enjoy the simplicity of life on the road. Our pitch for the next few weeks is on Cholsey Grange CL in a cracking area of the Chiltern Hills.

Sixty Up!
After twelve days at home we are on the road again. The weather has been really hot and the prolonged dry spell is starting to show its effects on the countryside. The positive is that the grass in the garden is not growing, but the negative has been the moorland fires. We were particularly saddened to see the pictures of the fires around Saddleworth Moor. It was just over month ago that we were walking there, it was dry then, to see the devastation and impact on the wildlife is heart breaking.

Stags in the Corn
I am walking on my own again today, it is Lynnie’s birthday and she is out with our daughter Lolli for the afternoon. My heel was less painful this morning as I went about my duties on Cholsey Grange CL so I have decided to venture a little further whilst still resisting the temptation for a good jamabout.

Kites and Windmills
We have now settled into our routine at Cholsey Grange CL. With the site owners Ted and Jackie away for a couple of weeks we are looking after things for them. This is a familiar role we have undertaken for a couple of years and it is a great place to be. “Looking after” mainly involves meeting and greeting, keeping an eye on the garden and riding on Ted’s mower. Also within my bailiwick is feeding the chickens and Perkin the cat.

Back at Cholsey Grange CL
Whilst we enjoy travelling around exploring new parts of the country and visiting new sites it is good to occasionally visit old favourites. One such spot is Cholsey Grange CL in the village of Ibstone in Buckinghamshire. We have been coming to this site regularly since we started caravanning. It is a great location for walking, a cracking site and has the bonus of being close to Lolly and Toby so we can catch up with them during our stay.

Walking to Turville Heath and Turville from Cholsey Grange.
Usually when we are travelling I write a blog for each day, but this stay at Cholsey Grange has coincided with a busy spell of work. It fits in perfectly for me because I can take the dogs for a few miles in the morning, come back and feed Jackie’s chickens and Perkins the cat.

A Cracking Six Mile Walk from Cholsey Grange CL
One of the joys of travelling as much as we do is that you have a constantly changing view from the caravan window. It also means we are privileged to see some fantastic sunsets and yesterday evening’s was a stunner.

A Walk Over Turville Down
In keeping with the weather of the past few days it is warm and cloudy and no rain forecast. After my early morning walk and a couple of hours working away in the awning it is time for a wander.
There are so many footpaths and circular walks leading from Cholsey Grange that you are almost spoilt for choice. I opt for a route I have done a couple of times before, but is always interesting and usually provides an opportunity to spot some wild life.
