Lynnie has had two days off from walking and whilst there is no guarantee of a dry day today the forecast looks reasonable, so she decides to come on a jamabout. By way of encouragement I have promised a new walk today starting from Stainforth so that we can visit Stainforth Force.

A Jamabout from Stainforth to Helwith Bridge

Winskill Stones and Catrigg Force
The wet weather continues and the rain looks set in for most of the day but the dogs still need walking. I don’t mind walking in the rain as long as I have the right gear on. There is something relaxing about being out in rough weather, usually alone in the landscape, as most sensible folk are tucked up in the dry.

A Jamabout to Hull Pot and Pen-y-ghent
It feels like it has been raining ever since our arrival in Settle, apart from the odd break it has been lashing down, but this does not deter us from heading out walking again today. In fact we are hoping the wet weather will give us the opportunity to see water flowing into Hull Pot, a sight we have never seen.

A Walk to Crummack Dale
Yesterday I promised Lynnie a walk through Crummack Dale and then whilst walking decided to alter the route to take a trip over Ingleborough. The pie and pint in the Talbot in Settle last night provided some compensation, but now I need to deliver the walk Lynnie had been expecting. So we are off to Clapham again to complete a curricular walk through Crummack Dale.

Where Are We?
After a night of heavy rain we start to think about our walk for the day. Whenever we plan a trip to Brigholme Farm CL Lynnie requests we do some new walks, as we only visit once a year I find this difficult. There are so many walks I really love, like the climb to the top of Ingleborough from Clapham, which Lynnie is fed up of and terms a trudge from Gaping Gill to the top. However, there are some walks that Lynnie is happy to repeat. So today I suggest a route through Crummack Dale.

When the Rain Came
It is no secret that one of our favourite locations is the Yorkshire Dales. I have been visiting the area since a child and it is one of the first places I took Lynnie when we first met. One of our regular stops in the area is Brigholme Farm CL and it felt a bit like coming home when we arrived after six hours travel yesterday.

Pateley Bridge, Lead Mines and Braithwaite Moor
We have just about reached the end of this tour; we have been away fifty nights and have one more before heading back home. Therefore, this is our last day exploring the area and I am keen to return to Pateley Bridge to do another walk from the town.

A Wander Around Ripon
Today our wander out is to do a bit of an explore around Ripon. After the exertions of yesterday Lynnie and Dexter request a shorter walk. As regular blog readers I am more likely to take account of Dexter’s situation than listen to Lynnie. After all these years Lynnie knows how to approach me on such matters, if she were to say “I don’t want to walk to far today” we are bound to be off across a moor and covering at least fifteen miles. Whereas “Dexter looks like he needs an easy day” is likely to result in a steady six or seven mile walk.

Harrogate Ringway
It is in trepidation that I open my eyes this morning. Did I have a terrible dream? Did the EU referendum really result in a vote to leave the EU? All too soon we realise it was true and once again start the day with a serious bout of melancholy. There is only one thing to do and that is get the boots on and go for a good long walk.
