  • On the Miners Trail A Circular Walk From Kilgetty

On the Miners Trail A Circular Walk From Kilgetty

Today’s walk starts a very short drive from Woodstock CL.  The starting point is the car park by the Co-op in Kilgetty and from here we turn left, passing the sports ground, and at the roundabout turn right to walk up the hill.

  • A Walk Around Llanboidy

    A Walk Around Llanboidy

This is another day when I am walking alone.  After yesterday’s walk at Carew Castle Lynnie’s back is painful again so she is having a restful day around the caravan whilst I go off exploring.

  • Carew Castle

    Carew Castle

There are a couple of things that are likely to get Lynnie enthused about a walk, one is the promise of quality ice cream and another is a chance to look at a castle.  I am not sure that I can guarantee ice cream on today’s walk, but there is certainty about seeing a castle.  Lynnie still has problems with her back but hopes a short walk might help.

  • Wandering Around Laugharne

    Wandering Around Laugharne

Lynnie’s back is showing slight signs of improvement.  She is not up to a full walk but reckons she could go further than she has covered on recent days.  Since arriving at Woodstock CL, Ron the owner has made a number of suggestions of interesting places to visit, including Laugharne.  So that is where we drive today.

  • Grove Colliery and Kilgetty Ironworks

    Grove Colliery and Kilgetty Ironworks

Following my earlier walk around Amroth Lynnie and I are off to explore the remains of Kilgetty Ironworks and the Grove Colliery. We take a short stroll there from the car park at Stepaside.

  • Jamming About From Amroth

    Jamming About From Amroth

Lynnie’s back is still bad, it is showing slight signs of improvement, but not enough to allow her to join the dogs and I for a jam about. So once again Dexter, Crosby and I are exploring some of South Pembrokeshire without her.  When on our travels I occasionally walk without Lynnie, (normally when I admit to the intended route exceeding fifteen miles!), but to be out on my own for so many consecutive days is unusual. The walking pace tends to be slightly quicker, because there are fewer stops for taking pictures of sheep or flowers, but I do miss the obscure conversations we have whilst out and about.

Wisemans Bridge, Amroth and Colby Gardens

This is another day when I am walking on my own, Lynnie is not confident her back can cope with anything more than a gentle stroll.  It has been a few days since I last walked more than a few miles, so the dogs and I leave Lynnie in peace at Woodstock CL.

  • Still Struggling On

    Still Struggling On

It looks like this tour is ill fated; Dexter has now recovered from his upset stomach, though he is still on a diet of chicken and rice (much to Crosby’s annoyance) but Lynnie’s back problems continue.  Yesterday when I returned from my early morning walk with the dogs I found her “stuck” and needing assistance.

  • A Walk into Saundersfoot

    A Walk into Saundersfoot

Yesterday was a moving day, but we only travelled forty-five miles from Llangadog to Woodstock CL just outside Saundersfoot. Our journey was delayed slightly when Lynnie tweaked her back. After sitting in the car for an hour she has stiffened and with Dexter also a bit off colour we only took a short walk from the CL to the nearby Jubilee Park nature reserve at East Williamston.

  • Visiting Llandeilo and a Trip to the Vets

Visiting Llandeilo and a Trip to the Vets

It is our final day at Barons Court CL and we intend to take a look at Llandeilo, a town we have not visited before. Our intention is to combine a wander around the town with a longer walk. When I take Dexter and Crosby out for their morning amble it is clear that Dexter is not feeling the Mae West, this is confirmed when he decides not to eat his breakfast, a previously unheard of event.
