It is very unusual for me to be in the caravan on my own. When we got our first van Lynnie insisted I spend a night in it close to home to make sure I knew how it worked before she joined me. Occasionally whilst staying at Cholsey Grange CL I have been left for a night or two whilst Lynnie visited our daughter Lolly who lives nearby. But this is a first; a whole trip on my own!

A Short Loop Over Dowsborough Hillfort
It’s the final day of this tour. We have been away from home for a fortnight, by our standards this has been a short trip but Lynnie is keen to get back and tend to the garden and I have a few work meetings. Unusually we do not have another trip in the diary; so I am a bit twitchy. I like to know when we are off again before we get back home!

Jamming About to Wills Neck and Broomfield Hill
I am walking on my own today so it is no surprise that I head towards the Quantock Hills. Since we started travelling we have walked past numerous Ordnance Survey Triangulation Points, more commonly known as Trig Points. However, it is only recently, after joining Twitter, that I realised there was such a thing as Trig Point bagging.

Returning to the Quantock Hills
After a week in Fowey it is time to move on and head in the general direction of home. This has been our first trip to Cornwall with the caravan and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It has been the ideal time of year for us to visit, without hoards of tourists, not that we’ve anything against tourists after all we fall into that category, but we dislike crowds.

A Wander to Wellington Monument
Following yesterday’s circuitous car excursion onto Exmoor I am keen not to use the car today. We will be heading home tomorrow; as unfortunately we have come to the end of our short break. But we cannot leave without having a wander on the Blackdown Hills to visit the Wellington Monument.

Up Dunkery Hill
If I am totally honest there are many things that I use whilst not understanding how they work. When it comes to things like the car I comprehend the principles of the combustion engine and the mechanics of how it is constructed. However, I would not for one minute consider doing anything more technical than cleaning it (occasionally), putting fuel in it and checking fluid levels and tyre pressures.

A Jamabout on the Quantocks
I am walking on my own today whilst Lynnie meets up with my cousin Maureen for lunch and a catch up in Taunton. There is never any doubt where I will head for a walk when close to Taunton; I’m off to the Quantock Hills again.

Back on the Quantock Hills
Our first trip of the year and we are back on familiar territory. Those who have followed our blog for a while will know that at various times we have lived in Taunton; Somerset is a favourite location of ours. So when deciding where to kick off on our 2017 travels Wellington seemed an obvious choice. It gives us both a chance to catch up with old friends and do some cracking walking.

Autumn in Adcombe Woods
Regular blog readers would be forgiven for thinking that the only walking we have been doing in Somerset is on the Quantock Hill’s. However, since putting the caravan in store and taking up temporary residence in Taunton I have returned to a working life. As a consequence the dogs and I have been having a number of evening walks around the local streets (poop bags at the ready!). Interspersed with these have been frequent trips to Staple Fitzpaine and Corfe to cover previously walked loops.

Still a Few Leaves Remain!
We can never tire of walking on the Quantock Hills and so far have managed to ensure that at least part of our route is across new ground. Frequently the majority of our walk is on paths that we have trodden recently.
