Last year I did a solo walk with the dogs on the Quantock Hills that took me over Wills Neck, the highest point on the Quantocks and on to Aisholt which is a thankful village. Lynnie was so struck by the pictures of the walk that she has suggested we head that way today.

Bagging Trig Points on the Blackdown Hills
We are heading back to the Blackdown Hills today. From Cadeside CAMC we take a short trip down the M5 leaving at Junction 28 to pick up the eastbound A373, just after the Keepers Cottage pub we take a turning on the left sign posted to Sheldon and then follow this road, Broad Road as it heads on to the western side of the Blackdowns and park at a car park, Grid Reference ST095068.

Exploring New Tracks on the Quantock Hills
Today I am walking on my own whilst Lynnie catches up with friends in Taunton. So after dropping her off I head for the Quantock Hills and park at Dead Women’s Ditch.

A Jamabout from Staple Hill on the Blackdowns
When I lived in Taunton my default location for a long walk was the Quantock Hills, on rare occasions I headed to the Brendon Hills and sometimes if pressed for time I would head on to the Blackdown Hills, which were the closest to where we lived.

New Year’s Day on The Quantock Hills
I reached my target of walking 2,018 miles in 2018 on the Quantock Hills in November. I have recently committed to again take on the challenge of walking the year whilst raising funds for the Trussell Trust and have decided there would be no better place to start my 2019 challenge than back on the Quantock Hills.

Reaching 2,018 Miles on the Quantocks
Today is day 312 of my challenge to walk 2,018 miles in 2018. I am only a few miles short of reaching my target and it seems fitting to pass the milestone on one of my favourite walks. So today Lynnie, the dogs and I head off to the Quantock Hills and park up at Dead Woman’s Ditch.

Minehead to Watchet and back on the Coastal Path
During out travels we have covered a number of miles on the coastal paths around the UK which is not bad going given my dislike of cliffs. Today we plan to notch up some new miles for us along the coastline between Minehead and Watchet.

Horner Wood and Dunkery Beacon
Earlier in the year I did a cracking walk from Horner on the edge of Exmoor up to Dunkery Beacon. It was the first time I had visited the stunning Horner Wood and I knew it was somewhere Lynnie would like. So today we are making the short journey from Minehead CAMC to the National Trust car park in Horner.

Minehead to Selworthy Beacon in the Mist
Last November I had a trip away in the caravan with Crosby. We stayed at Cadeside the Caravan and Motorhome Club site in Wellington and spent most of our trip walking on Exmoor. This year I suggest to Lynnie that she joins me and we stay at the CAMC site in Minehead.

On the Kennet & Avon Canal from Bradford-on-Avon to Trowbridge
It is the final day of this brief trip to Rode and after yesterday’s excursion to the Mendips we have decided to stay closer to the site today and make the short journey to Bradford-on-Avon for our walk.
