  • Blown Around The Burrows

    Blown Around The Burrows

This is only a brief visit to Seabreeze CL; tomorrow we head off to Cornwall. Before we leave Lynnie is keen to make another visit to the Hocking’s Ice Cream van at Westward Ho! So a walk across Northam Burrows is called for today.

Along the Tarka Trail from Great Torrington

Today is another day when I am out on my own with the dogs. Lynnie has decided to spend the afternoon wandering around Bideford before visiting her Uncle. When we stayed at Seabreeze last year we walked sections of the Tarka Trail, this afternoon I plan to explore some more of it.

  • Back on the Northam Burrows

    Back on the Northam Burrows

After six nights at home we are off again, this time on a two week tour that will take in North Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. Our first stop is Seabreeze CL just outside of Appledore. This is a site we previously visited soon after it first opened and we have been looking forward to revisiting.

  • Totnes, Berry Pomeroy Castle and Sighting a Big Cat

Totnes, Berry Pomeroy Castle and Sighting a Big Cat

Our trip to Devon has almost come to an end; we have enjoyed a wonderful fortnight and given the time of year have been exceptionally lucky with the weather.  The high winds experienced this week have been challenging and a good test of the new awning, but apart from the odd shower we have contrived to stay dry.   We were due to travel home today, but the forecast is for a warm, sunny day, so we have decided to extend our trip to make the most of the sunshine.

  • Along the Coast from Paignton to Torbay

Along the Coast from Paignton to Torbay

It is another blustery day and we decide to knock off a bit more of the South Devon Coastal Path. We are going to pick up where we left off a couple of days ago in Paignton and walk around the bay to Torbay. This time of year we are able to park easily, close to the beach, at Preston Sands.

  • Visiting Greenways and Walking to Man Sands

Visiting Greenways and Walking to Man Sands

On our travels over the past four years we have been blessed with good weather, it has been rare for us to encounter a wet and miserable day.  I put this down to good clean living, letting people out at road junctions and being friendly to folk you meet for the first time.  If there is someone up there watching over us (which to be honest I doubt) then they certainly like to make sure the sun shines on us.

  • Exploring the Dart Valley from Kingswear

Exploring the Dart Valley from Kingswear

After yesterday’s traumas walking the cliff tops I am keen to find a less hazardous walk for todays outing.  Just down the hill from where we are staying at Hillhead is Kingswear and it is a great place to start a walk up the Dart Valley.

  • A Circular Walk From Hillhead to Brixham

A Circular Walk From Hillhead to Brixham

The wind certainly blew last night as forecast, I am not sure what speed it reached but the forecasted 45mph was for Brixham at the bottom of the hill.  Some of the gusts we encountered had the van rocking and Lynnie decided to stay up until the early hours in the belief that if she kept looking at the awning it would stay up.  I was more confident having pegged it down tight so managed a reasonable nights sleep.

  • Along the Coast from Broadsands to Paignton and Back

Along the Coast from Broadsands to Paignton and Back

Yesterday was a moving day and the first time we have taken down our new awning.  A number of our winter hours were taken up with awning discussions.  The air awning we purchased last year turned out not to be such a great buy; it lasted just 118 nights, during which time we had three new tubes! Apparently, according to the manufacturer, we had used it too much!

  • A Stroll to Lake on the West Devon Way and back on the Granite Way

A Stroll to Lake on the West Devon Way and back on the Granite Way

After our morning trip to the Finch Foundry we head back to the caravan for lunch before heading out for a walk with the dogs.  Once back in the warm Lynnie confirms that the weather does not warrant her venturing outside again and a couple of hours peace and quiet is what she hankers for.
