    Hawkhurst to Bedgebury Forest

There is always something special about exploring a new part of the Country.  Neither of us know this area so our stay here feels like being on holiday and we are keen to get out and explore.  My early morning stroll with the boys from Waghorns CL was a pleasant mile or two loop around local paths.

    Arriving at Waghorns CL

After packing up at Cholsey Grange we have the relatively straightforward trip to our next site just outside of Wadhurst in East Sussex.  Most of the journey is on motorways and the M25 is relatively quiet (about as quiet as you could hope for on a Monday) and there are no holds ups.  When towing the van I like to use a certain website when planning the final stages of a journey, it allows you to get a street view of the roads leading to the site.  This has, so far, proved a useful aid to ensuring that we know where we are heading.

An Eleven Mile Jam About from Cholsey Grange CL

After yesterday’s short stroll I have plans for a longer walk.  It is a while since I have managed more than a six mile walk, at home work commitments have restricted my walking to a couple of hours a day.  So this tour I intend getting a few good walks in.

Cricket Memories and The White Hart

Once again we are packed up and back on the road, I am beginning to believe that like Ben Rumson, Lee Marvin’s character in Paint Your Wagon (another favourite film of mine), I was born under a wandering star.  These days I just can’t wait to get on the road.  It’s not that I don’t enjoy being back at home.  We have had a great time catching up with friends in recent weeks, but travelling and not knowing what’s round the next corner is always exhilarating.

  • Farewell to Cholsey Grange

    Farewell to Cholsey Grange

We have just about reached the end of our stay at Cholsey Grange, Ted and Jackie return tomorrow and we will be packing up and heading home.  The relaxing lifestyle of caravanning will be forgotten next week when I will be busily trying to fit in work whilst catching up with the gardening.

The Other Way Around to Aston Rowant Nature Reserve

It is another very hot day.  After my walk to Aston Rowant Nature Reserve a couple of days ago I am keen to pay another visit, this time walking down the chalk escarpment to fully appreciate the views.

It has been a busy morning on Cholsey Grange CL.  Along with the normal chores of feeding chickens and Perkins the cat it is time to get the mower out and cut the grass.  Lynnie spent last night with Lolly so I was alone in the Coachman and need to make sure it is spick and span for her return.

  • A Walk to Fingest and Turville from Cholsey Grange

A Walk to Fingest and Turville from Cholsey Grange

A few years ago whilst visiting Cholsey Grange we got chatting to the couple pitched next to us.  Since then we have become good friends with Richard and Trudie and for the second year running they have planned their visit to Cholsey Grange to coincide with our stay.  It was great to catch up with them last night and to share news and stories of travels.

Walking to Turville Heath and Turville from Cholsey Grange.

Usually when we are travelling I write a blog for each day, but this stay at Cholsey Grange has coincided with a busy spell of work.  It fits in perfectly for me because I can take the dogs for a few miles in the morning, come back and feed Jackie’s chickens and Perkins the cat.

A Cracking Six Mile Walk from Cholsey Grange CL

One of the joys of travelling as much as we do is that you have a constantly changing view from the caravan window.  It also means we are privileged to see some fantastic sunsets and yesterday evening’s was a stunner.
