  • Dungeness – A Step Into Another World

Dungeness – A Step Into Another World

After two days exploring Romney Marsh on foot from Bellfield Farm CL it is time for us to hop into the car and explore further afield.  Our plan today is a walk that takes in Dungeness.

    Dymchurch to Littleton-on-Sea and More…

After yesterday’s wander around the north edge of Romney Marsh we have decided to head towards the coast and see what that has to offer.  It is about four miles from Bellfield Farm CL to Dymchurch, most folk would hop in their car to make the trip but we lace up our boots and head off.

  • Jamming About on Romney Marsh

    Jamming About on Romney Marsh

One of the pleasures of travelling as we do is the ability to explore a small area of the country in some detail. I like days where we don’t use the car this enables us to really get a feel for an area and has the advantage of no traffic. Today’s exploration is from Bellfield Farm CL and from a look at the map does not look too challenging. There are no hills in this part of the country. (more…)

  • Arriving at Bellfield Farm CL

    Arriving at Bellfield Farm CL

After a week at Waghorns CL we are on the move, we have had a great time here; it is a cracking CL with lots to do in the locality and the walking has been great.  We have not eaten out often during our travels this year but this week we have made a couple of trips to the local pub, The Old Vine in Cousley Wood, on both occasions we had good meals.  We will certainly return to this area in the future, there is so much more to see.

  • Sauntering Around Scotney Castle

    Sauntering Around Scotney Castle

Our destination today is Scotney Castle which is not far from Waghorn’s CL.  We consider walking there but looking at the map note we would have to walk besides the A21,  we are  unsure if there is a pavement or wide verge, so instead make the short drive.

  • An Afternoon Stroll from Frant to Eridge Green

An Afternoon Stroll from Frant to Eridge Green

It is another cracking day; in previous years we have had good weather caravanning in September but this is one of the best.  After my morning walk and chores, which are interspersed with chats with our caravanning neighbours it is time to head out for the day.

  • Cranbrook to Sissinghurst

    Cranbrook to Sissinghurst

After our trip to Sissinghurst Castle Gardens we still need to get a decent walk in so make the short drive to Cranbrook, parking in the town centre by the Co-Op shop.  White weatherboard houses dominate Cranbrook, like many other places in this area.

  • Sissinghurst Castle Garden and Grounds

    Sissinghurst Castle Garden and Grounds

This area abounds with National Trust properties and Lynnie has been identifying a couple she would like to visit.  Top of the list is Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, our destination for today.  It does not take long to drive there from our pitch at Waghorns CL.  The dogs are not allowed in the gardens but can walk in the grounds.  So Lynnie is going to visit the gardens whilst I stroll around the grounds.

  • Walking to Wadhurst

    Walking to Wadhurst

It is surprising how few books we read whilst travelling, when I was commuting to work in London I would get through a book a week without any trouble.  Now it takes me months to read a book, perhaps it is due to my change in taste of reading material (can you have a change in taste in reading?), but also the lack of time.  I now tend to read at the end of the day and invariably fall asleep.

  • A Walk Around Bewl Water

    A Walk Around Bewl Water

When looking at a map to plan a walk there are two things likely to grab my attention. The first is a big hill (as long as it does not have any precipitous drops), the other is a large lake or reservoir. In this part of the country there are not too many large hills but, as we discovered a few days ago, there is an attractive reservoir very close by!
