Today our afternoon walk is a jaunt from the Cholsey Grange site. We head up the farm drive and at the top turn left, along the road through part of Ibstone towards Fingest. Just past the school we turn right to walk down hill and after the sharp bend take the footpath on the left. This is the opposite direction to the route I walked on my return from Turville on Friday.

Anyone for Cricket?
One of the challenges of our new lifestyle is overcoming the temptation of feeling the need to see something new everyday, as you do on holiday. Over the last week or so we have decided that we have enjoyed this summer so much that we will do the same next year, albeit visiting some different locations. One place we will revisit is Cholsey Grange CL. It is very convenient for seeing Lolly and Toby plus it is such a great site. So today we decide to have a chill day and do very little.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Yesterday morning whilst packing to leave the Peak District we were listening to Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show. We are both fans of this radio programme and Lynnie will not get out of bed before I have switched it on and put the kettle on to boil.
Anyway, Chris asked the question, “What three films would you want to watch over and over again?” There is no doubt for me that if I had to choose one it would be Mary Poppins, a heart-rending tale of parenthood and I have yet to get by the bit where the wind changes without crying (you may think I am joking but just ask Lynnie or Lolly!), another favourite is Brassed Off again there is a need to keep the box of tissues close by, then I struggle because there are three films that I would have difficulty to choose between, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Calamity Jane and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Fortunately I don’t have to make the decision, but as you can tell I am up to date with the film industry.

Lollipop
After all our preparation yesterday we get an early start. We have spent the last week on Blackwell Hall CL, the views are stunning and all the pitches have hard standing. It is one of those sites where you have to go and find the owners and we have not seen them on the site all week. There is also a lack of any local information. It is not that we want to be told what to do, but sometimes it is good to have someone around to impart their local knowledge.
