  • A Wander Into Eastbourne

    A Wander Into Eastbourne

It is another sunny day and we can think of nothing better than a trip to the seaside, or to be more precise a wander along the promenade at Eastbourne.  It is only a short walk into the town from Black Robin Farm CL.

    Beachy Head and Birling Gap

After a week and a half at home we are on the road again.  This time heading to East Sussex to stay at Black Robin Farm CL, which is on a hill to the west of Eastbourne and just under a mile from Beachy Head.  We arrived yesterday afternoon and by the time we were set up had only enough time to walk the dogs on the Downs overlooking Eastbourne.

  • A Circular Walk From Battle

    A Circular Walk From Battle

We have almost reached the end of our three week tour of East Sussex and Kent so before heading off for today’s walk we take the awning down, then if tomorrow morning brings another heavy dew we won’t have to wait for the sun to dry it out.

  • A Walk Through Hastings Country Park

A Walk Through Hastings Country Park

Yesterday we did a lot of wandering around and probably covered a few miles but unless I have a rucksack on my back it does not feel like a real walk. So today the boots and rucksack are soon attached and we are off to walk another section of the Sussex coastline.

  • A Wander Around Rye

    A Wander Around Rye

After our walk around Winchelsea and Icklesham we decide to take a trip into Rye to mooch about for an hour or so. We drove through it a couple of days ago when moving between sites and thought it worthy of a visit and Freddy’s like to wander around towns when they are closed. It provides the opportunity to stop and look at the architecture without annoying shoppers and folk going about their daily business.

  • Rye Harbour, Camber Castle and the Mary Stanford Tragedy

Rye Harbour, Camber Castle and the Mary Stanford Tragedy

After yesterday’s walk inland we are keen to get back to the sea.  It is a stunning autumnal day, but there is a very keen wind that doesn’t feel too bad at Battle, but has us layering clothes on in the car park at Rye Harbour.

  • A Wander Through Woods North of Battle

A Wander Through Woods North of Battle

After a week or so walking along the coastline it is time to take a walk in the countryside. Being a Wiltshire boy a trip to the seaside was always a treat, as a nipper a Sunday School outing to Sandbanks was about all I saw of the sea. Whereas Lynnie is a Dorset lass and all her early years were spent close to the coast. There is something special about being near the sea, especially at dusk, I can see why it is so popular with retired folk.

  • Arriving at 1 Uckham Lane Gardens CL

Arriving at 1 Uckham Lane Gardens CL

The trip to Battle from Romney Marsh should have been straightforward. However, due to a road closure we had to head east before turning back along the coast. At the best of times a road closure can be annoying, but with over 24 feet of caravan behind you it certainly adds a bit of stress to a journey.
