After a quiet morning, which involved a trip to the local farm shop and a general catch up around the Unicorn it is time for an afternoon walk. Personally I consider it a bonus if we can walk from the site rather than driving to a starting point for a walk.

A Walk to Aldeburgh
I have noticed that the first morning at a new site the boys are eager to get out and check out their new territory. I have been looking at the map planning an excursion for later so our pre-breakfast walk is similar to the one we did yesterday evening, but missing out Knodishall Common and the far side of Snape Road. It is just short of three miles so we’ve earned our breakfast.

Trumped
There are many enjoyable aspects to our travelling lifestyle, one of which is meeting people along the way. The sites we use are Caravan Club Certificated Locations (CLs), they are limited to a maximum of five caravans. The ones we choose have electric hook up points, but usually there is just one tap for collecting drinking water and a waste disposal point.

All the Fun of the Fair?
Another sunny morning, the overnight rain has passed through. The boys and I head off for our pre-breakfast walk. We head out of Little Baddows Fruit Farm in the direction of Hurrells Lane crossing a field of knee high wheat resulting in my legs and the dogs getting soaked. We emerge onto Hurrells Lane by the ford, the measure by the side shows the depth as six inches, luckily there is a footbridge. Crossing we enter Waterhall Meadows Nature Reserve and see a hind.

Tales of the Riverbank
When Lynnie and I were children in the 1960’s Tales of the Riverbank was a feature of children’s television. In those days there were no specialist children’s channels it was just an hour or so each evening. So the tales of Hammy the Hamster and his mate Roderick the Water Rat, narrated by Johnny Morris were essential viewing.

Oh What a Beautiful Morning
The first day of the next stage of our travels. We are travelling up the east coast and then across the Scottish border before returning to Pitton in early August. At the weekend we had a very enjoyable evening with our friends Stuart and Mandy and outlined our route. Stuart suggested we skip our first stop just outside of Chelmsford. We do not know this area at all so we were then unsure of our decision to split our journey to Suffolk.

Three Churches and a Pepperbox
I spent much of yesterday in the car driving to Gatwick airport to drop our son Ben off on the next stage of his world travels. He has recently returned from Central America and is now going to Norway for the summer before heading off to Japan in the autumn. It makes our travel sound a bit mundane.

Bentley Wood
After a few days in Taunton we have returned to Pitton for just over a week to catch up with family and friends. Our visit coincides with Saints’ last home game of the season, so on Sunday I headed to St Mary’s. Predictably, with a number of players destined for World Cup duty, it was a meagerly contested draw.

Reasons To Be Cheerful
Today Lynnie is taking a trip to Montacute House with her friend Margaret and husband Tony, another day excused walking.

Tis Written All Quiet
The wind is blowing and the forecast is not good. Heavy showers are predicted and soon after waking it pours down. This is enough for Lynnie to suggest that I go walking with the boys whilst she catches up with things in the van.
