Being away in the caravan in November means there is limited daylight for walking so no time to faff about. We have decided to explore a part of the South Downs Way and head for our starting point; the attractive village of Amberley just off of the B2139.

Littlehampton By The Light Of A Supermoon
In true Baldrick tradition I have a cunning plan entailing us caravanning during the winter months. Not continually, but getting away in the Coachman for at least 5 nights each month. I am not sure how this will work out and a few feet of snow might scupper things, but for now the weather is good so we decide to head off.

A Visit to Stourhead Gardens
We have been home for just over two weeks and I am itching to get away again in the caravan. Last weekend I looked at the forecast for the South of England and it was mild and dry, amazing weather for late October. Whilst Lynnie likes the idea of getting away, she also, correctly, sees the need to spend some time in the garden before the onset of winter.

A Circular Walk From Battle
We have almost reached the end of our three week tour of East Sussex and Kent so before heading off for today’s walk we take the awning down, then if tomorrow morning brings another heavy dew we won’t have to wait for the sun to dry it out.

A Wander Around Rye
After our walk around Winchelsea and Icklesham we decide to take a trip into Rye to mooch about for an hour or so. We drove through it a couple of days ago when moving between sites and thought it worthy of a visit and Freddy’s like to wander around towns when they are closed. It provides the opportunity to stop and look at the architecture without annoying shoppers and folk going about their daily business.

Rye Harbour, Camber Castle and the Mary Stanford Tragedy
After yesterday’s walk inland we are keen to get back to the sea. It is a stunning autumnal day, but there is a very keen wind that doesn’t feel too bad at Battle, but has us layering clothes on in the car park at Rye Harbour.

A Wander Through Woods North of Battle
After a week or so walking along the coastline it is time to take a walk in the countryside. Being a Wiltshire boy a trip to the seaside was always a treat, as a nipper a Sunday School outing to Sandbanks was about all I saw of the sea. Whereas Lynnie is a Dorset lass and all her early years were spent close to the coast. There is something special about being near the sea, especially at dusk, I can see why it is so popular with retired folk.
